Scholarships

 •  John Agnifili Scholarships
 •  Jane Bates-Rehder Scholarship
 •  Tony Wince Scholarship

TCOC benefited greatly from past members who demonstrated a great capacity to give of themselves to others.

The Tall Club of Orange County regrets that it is not able to present scholarships in memory of these outstanding members to those graduating in 2008.  We expect to resume our scholarships for year 2009.

We will continue honoring those who gave so much to us.

John Agnifili Memorial Scholarships

These scholarships were established to honor the memory of John Agnifili.  These scholarships consist of money raised by the Tall Club of Orange County and a donation from John's family.

John Agnifili was a long standing member of the Tall Club of Orange County who passed away on July 28th, 1984 after a short illness.

These scholarships will be available again in 2009 to graduating high school seniors in Orange County.  Students who apply may be considering any field of study, but must be entering or attending either a junior college, four year college, or university in the following fall.  Criteria for selection will be minimum height (females 5'10", males 6'2"), academic achievement, volunteer work, service to the community and school activities.

The first place award recipient is automatically entered to compete for the $1,000 Kae Sumner Einfeldt Scholarship Award available through Tall Clubs International (TCI).  Kae Sumner Einfeldt was the founder of the first tall club which inspired the growth of many other clubs now known collectively as TCI.

Jane Bates-Rehder Memorial Scholarship

This $500 scholarship was established to honor the memory of Jane Bates-Rehder.  Applicants must be members or directly related to a member of the club.  This scholarship will be available in 2009 to students entering or attending college, a university or a vocational school.  Criteria for selection will be based on academic achievement, volunteer work, service to the community and school activities.  There are no age or height requirements for this scholarship. The scholarship consists of money raised by the club.

Jane Bates-Rehder was an active and enthusiastic member of TCOC from 1975.  She was named the 1986 "TCI Woman of the Year."  Jane was a Registered Nurse, specializing in nephrology.  On January 5, 1990, at the age of 52 she died of cancer.

Tony Wince Memorial Scholarship

This $500 scholarship was created in 2001 to honor the memory of Tony Wince.  The scholarship committee selects this scholarship award winner from among qualified applicants for the current TCOC John Agnifili Scholarship applicants.  There is nothing additional required of an applicant to be considered for this award.
