1st PlaceJillian Kurvers is a 5' 10" graduate of El Dorado High in Placentia and has been accepted at Claremont McKenna University where she will be majoring in Pre-med Biology with the goal of becoming a medical doctor. This dedicated water polo and award-winning swim team member has found a greater sense of self-confidence and belief in her potential to do great things through being tall. |
2nd PlaceStephanie Hsiao is a 5' 10" graduate of Irvine High School and an accomplished swimmer. She expects to major in Economics and Political Science with emphasis in international relations at Princeton, and sees herself with an MBA and an overseas diplomatic post. Holder of a number of swimming records and an Olympic 2000 qualifier, Stephanie no longer feels that being tall is the curse it once seemed and says, "This scholarship is positive recognition for a physical attribute which had caused me so much grief when I was younger as well as a chance to (pursue my) education." |

Derek Wheeler is a 6' 7" graduate of Woodbridge High in Irvine and has been accepted to the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB), where he plans to major in Chemistry. Derek would eventually like to be part of NASA's team of scientists analyzing interstellar and interplanetary debris. Mr. Wheeler noted in his essay "... receiving this scholarship will contribute a great deal to my educational advancement and will certainly go for an excellent use, investing in my future." |

Natasha Souders is a 5'10" graduate of Ocean View High in Huntington Beach and has been accepted to the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB), where she plans to major in either Business or Education. An accomplished soccer player, volleyball player, and award-winning track star, Natasha says "I have learned to enjoy my height and to take full advantage of it. Tall is beautiful." |
